Stuff Band Directors Need to Know

Many repair manuals are written with the technician in mind. This is a modern repair manual written with band directors in mind. It gives thorough guidance to many everyday simple repairs, such as flute adjustments, tying French horn rotors, and brass cleaning. It deals with how to troubleshoot and assess instruments for repair, whether the problem is fixable in the band room or needs to go to the repair shop. Low tech, low cost repairs are presented in color pictures, showing each step clearly. There is also a section that talks about finding and working with a repair tech, starting a booster program, and vendors of band instrument supplies.

Selmer Omega Clarinet

Made by Selmer, this instrument is used but in pristine condition.  Silver keys,  bladder pads, nice tight seal, beautiful wood grain and intact classic engraving on the bell.  This gorgeous instrument has a nice deep tone and ready to play.

Buescher 400 Alto Saxophone

One of the more popular vintage saxophoned, this 400 was made just after the Selmer buyout between 1965-70.  It has the original Buescher parts, including Norton, springs, pad grommets, and special neck octave key.  This sax has seem some use, but has been reppaded using black Saxgourmet pads, new materials, key fittings, tone hole level and fraising, and neck cork.  The tone quality is bright and brilliant, and would make a nice jazz or stage instrument.

Getzen Eterna Cornet

Pro-line instrument with classic shepherd's crook back turn in the bell.  The leadpipe and the main tuning slide crook have been replaced.   Some plating wear around the valve block, however, no major dents.  Sonically cleaned, precision calibration.  Fast moving first crook trigger.

Getzen Cornet

One of Getzen's finest, the Super Deluxe line.  At one time these horns were considered pro-line.  Now they are considered upper intermediate.  Rich warms sound, centers well, with little resistance.  Cosmetically, the lacquer is very worn, and there are a few minor dents, however the valves are smooth and fast.  This cornet has been sonically cleaned and precision calibrated.  Slides move freely.  Comes with case and mouthpiece.

King Silvertone Cornet

Top of the line, professional vintage cornet.  Known for its rich dark sound, this silver instrument features some gorgeous hand engraving.  It is cosmetically flawless,  no dents or signs of rot.  Sonically cleaned, precision calibrated, and comes with two vintage mouthpieces.
